Authorities are now preparing to evacuate <strong>13 India-bound merchant vessels<\/strong> operating in high-risk waters, while closely monitoring a total of <strong>25 ships currently transiting the Strait of Hormuz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to official updates, the vessels identified for evacuation include <strong>eight ships carrying fertilisers<\/strong>, which are vital for India&#8217;s ongoing <strong>Kharif agricultural season<\/strong>, and <strong>three vessels transporting energy products<\/strong>, highlighting the strategic importance of maintaining uninterrupted cargo movements during the crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the vessels heading towards India are <strong>17 Indian-flagged ships<\/strong>, alongside several foreign-flagged vessels carrying Indian seafarers. The safety of these crews remains the government&#8217;s top priority as geopolitical instability continues to threaten one of the world&#8217;s busiest maritime trade routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the conflict erupted in West Asia, <strong>67 ships linked to Indian interests have safely navigated the conflict-affected sea corridor<\/strong>, while <strong>4,052 stranded Indian seafarers have been successfully repatriated to India<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During a high-level review meeting, India&#8217;s Shipping Minister reaffirmed the government&#8217;s commitment to protecting Indian maritime personnel, describing seafarers as essential contributors to global trade and assuring continued support for them and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping)<\/strong> continues to operate its emergency response mechanism around the clock, monitoring distress alerts, coordinating rescue efforts, and maintaining direct communication with vessels operating in affected waters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authorities also revealed the scale of the emergency response carried out so far:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>4,052 Indian seafarers safely repatriated<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>16,448 emergency calls attended<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>40,594 emails responded to<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continuous repatriation support, medical assistance, counselling, and engagement with affected families<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Financial assistance of \u20b910 lakh<\/strong> announced for the next of kin of deceased Indian seafarers affected during the crisis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reports from maritime safety organisations further indicate that <strong>more than four incidents have involved Indian vessels<\/strong>, while <strong>another 33 incidents affected foreign-flagged ships in the Persian Gulf west of the Strait of Hormuz<\/strong>, with an additional <strong>22 incidents reported in the Black Sea<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recognising the escalating security risks, the Indian government has advised all shipping companies and vessels to exercise heightened caution while navigating the <strong>Strait of Hormuz, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden<\/strong>, which continue to be classified among the world&#8217;s highest-risk maritime regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As regional tensions remain unresolved, shipping operators are expected to closely monitor voyage planning, security advisories, crew welfare, and contingency measures to ensure the safe passage of vessels and seafarers through these strategically critical waterways.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Indian government has intensified its maritime response as tensions across West Asia continue to impact commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden.
