{"id":551,"date":"2026-06-03T06:56:54","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T06:56:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marinersupdate.com\/blog\/?p=551"},"modified":"2026-06-03T09:04:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T09:04:00","slug":"sire-2-0-wk-57-inspection-at-usa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marinersupdate.com\/blog\/sire-2-0-wk-57-inspection-at-usa\/","title":{"rendered":"SIRE 2.0 &#8211; WK : 57 &#8211; INSPECTION AT USA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Inspector: Capt E******C<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Port: Houston, Texas, USA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duration: 8.0 Hours<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OBSERVATION NO 1: The vessel was not supplied with portable or personal gas detectors capable of testing the atmosphere of enclosed spaces for Carbon Dioxide (CO2) as required by IMO Resolution MSC.581(110), adopted on 27 June 2025. The vessel had requisitioned the required equipment and was awaiting delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OBSERVATION NO 2: Two wrenches were found placed on top of the #2 cargo condenser and receiver within the cargo machinery space. The OP had not identified the improperly stored tools during the area safety inspection. The wrenches were removed and properly stowed after being highlighted by the inspector<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OBSERVATION NO 3: The OP had prepared cargo load orders and stability calculations for various stages based on loading two grades simultaneously. However, during the inspection of the CCR, the vessel had been loading only one grade for approximately 8 hours. The OP had not prepared amended stability calculations for the loading of one grade at a time. The OP prepared amended stability calculations prior to the completion of the inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OBSERVATION NO 4: The aft emergency towing wire was secured by a bracket which required manual removal prior to deployment. The deployment instructions posted on the pickup gear storage box did not include the removal of this bracket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">General Approach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The inspector was practical and reasonable throughout the inspection and did not go into excessive detail unless required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Documentation \u2013 2.5 Hours<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Opening meeting conducted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Documentation and certificate folders were checked, including crew certification records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the opening meeting, we informed the inspector of one existing deficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reviewed defect list, company procedures for defect reporting, latest internal audit, and VIR reports along with closure records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inspector showed particular interest in the MSI report and requested sighting of the checklist used for carrying out inspections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Checked rest hour records; Master was asked to present rest hour records, related NCs, and company responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drill reports were reviewed with emphasis on ship-specific contingency arrangements for each drill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Bridge \u2013 1.5 Hours<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Detailed inspection of all bridge equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UKC calculations were cross-checked against actual vessel speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GPS offset was verified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Deck \u2013 1.5 Hours<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>General deck round conducted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Basic interviews carried out with deck crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both pilot ladders inspected along with certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paint store checked, including MSDS documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SOPEP store inventory verified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FPK store inspected, including lifejackets and immersion suits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lifeboat ration condition checked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All SCBA units tested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. CCR \u2013 1.0 Hour<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Inspector asked a series of his own operational questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gas meters checked, including company instructions regarding CO\u2082 meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cargo plan reviewed in detail, including questions related to modifications made due to the current loading rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Officer\u2019s night orders checked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ship\/Shore Checklist and hourly checklists reviewed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thorough inspection of Garbage Record Book and Ballast Water Record Book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5.
